FIFA U-17 World Championship A celebration of Trinidadian culture will be on display when the draw ceremony for the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship is held Wednesday 9 May at the Tobago Hilton.

Draw ceremony will start at 7.30 pm in the presence of Concacaf President and FIFA Vice-President Jack Austin Warner and FIFA General Secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen.

Sixteen teams will be drawn into four groups of four. The composition of the groups will be announced through FIFA.com. The match schedule will be communicated at a later stage when the matches will have been assigned to the venues and the kick-off times finalised.

The high point of the night, to be sure, will come when the 16 countries that have qualified for the finals find out their opponents for the sixth edition of the FIFA junior championship. But all attendees on the night will also be treated to a slice of life from the twin-island republic, the smallest nation ever to be awarded a FIFA world championship.

Interview
Mboma: "Cameroon is making the whole of Africa happy"

Patrick Mboma, who plays for AC Parma in Italy, has a great year 2000 to look back on: with Cameroon he won both the African Nations Cup and the Olympic football tournament, and in addition he himself was selected as Africa's Footballer of the Year. Now 30 years old, he is setting his sights even higher for the future - he dreams of winning the World Cup next year.

FIFA Magazine: You have had an exceptionally successful year 2000; on a personal level you were voted Africa's Footballer of the Year and with Cameroon you won the African Nations Cup and the Olympic gold medal. What do these three titles mean to you?
